The strongest Christians are those who can ground what they experience day to day in what they know every day. Do you know what you believe and why you believe it?
In the first decade of the third millennium, the church is in dire need of rediscovering the gospel, “the power of God unto salvation” (Rom. 1:16), which Paul unpacks in Romans. The apostle himself could not have known the enormous effect this little letter would have on the world. In the 16th century, history records Luther coming to grips with the revolutionary character of the Pauline epistle when he rediscovered the richness of the gospel through the doctrine of justification. Carrying on the tradition of the early reformers, White Horse Inn guides listeners through 40 episodes of “Romans Revolution.” We call it “Romans Revolution” not because we want to start a new movement, but because we want to see a new reformation in our churches – a modern Reformation. Such reformations always have something to do with rediscovering this epistle.
Dear Friends of the INN,
I’m excited to tell you about a significant milestone in White Horse Inn’s history and to ask you for your support.
For the past two years, we have been putting a plan in place that challenges “Christless Christianity” here and abroad. You can see the “fruit” of Christless Christianity in the results of recent research into the state of American Christianity.
The Pew Research Center recently reported that atheists, agnostics, Jews, and Mormons, score higher in religious knowledge and outperform Protestants on questions about the core teachings and history of Christianity.
The survey saw those identifying themselves as “Christian” shrink from 78% to 70%.
Almost 60% of our youth leave their churches as young adults, with many of them joining the growing numbers of the so-called “nones” (those who profess no adherence to any faith whatsoever).
DESPITE THIS BAD NEWS, the core message of Christianity is still capable of renewing the church, even in our own age. The gospel is nothing less than “the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). Not even the gates of hell can prevail against the church as believers become confident in the truths of God’s Word.
That’s why I’m excited about The Campaign for Core Christianity. IN ORDER TO HELP MORE CHRISTIANS know what they believe and why they believe it, we are creating Bible studies that connect with believers at any level. These Bible studies will be available on smart-phones and tablets, so anyone in the world can use them for FREE.
FREE. By that I mean at no cost for the disciple anywhere in the world. But, of course, it’s not free to produce. The cost of these studies is significant. There are talented Bible study writers, editors, video script writers, camera crews, producers, graphic artists, animators, website developers, and project managers that all work together to produce this quality, trustworthy content.
Our very first Bible study launched in April on our new site, corechristianity.com. My latest book, Core Christianity: Finding Yourself in God’s Story, is the foundation for our campaign.
I’m not even sure how to convey to you that your support right now is more important than ever. As we move toward the end of our fiscal year, we have $445,000 to go to be fully funded and to be able to continue bringing Christ-centered teaching around the world.
In addition, we need to continue to raise funds for The Campaign for Core Christianity.
A gift from you of $500, $250, or $100 will make a difference. As a thank you I will send you a signed copy of my new book, Core Christianity: Finding Yourself in God’s Story.
How we finish this fiscal year will be tremendously important to our future efforts. Sometime in the last 25 years you joined the conversation at White Horse Inn. I hope you will help us extend the Reformation conversation to the next generation. Please give a financial gift today toward our annual spring campaign.
I’m so grateful for your prayers and financial support.
In Christ Alone,
Founder and Editor-in-Chief, White Horse Inn
