The Gospel According to Isaiah, Part 2

At the time of the Exodus, the Jews were being called out of Egypt into a land of their own, and part of their new responsibility would be to serve eviction notices to the various pagan nations that were currently occupying the land.  But over time, the people of Israel would disobey God and would eventually become indistinguishable from their pagan neighbors, which is why God, through the prophet Isaiah, tells his people they too will soon be evicted from the land.  But in addition to these words of judgment and condemnation, we also find words of comfort and grace as God begins to reveal more and more about the coming messianic deliverer.
