On this edition of White Horse Inn, the hosts begin a five-part series on discipleship. This particular program is inspired by a recent Vacation Bible School program at a Houston area megachurch that wowed thousands of kids with a week of entertaining skits and musicals rather than with any traditional forms of Bible study. But is this really the best way to master the message of this particular book? Are we really making lifelong disciples, or just amusing the sheep?

I can't emphasize how important it is for any church that calls itself protestant to be familiar with the creeds of the Reformation. I personally I don't care whether a church teaches from the three dutch forms of unitty (Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, and Canons of Dort), or the Book of Concord. Althernatively the Westminster Standards, the 1689 baptist confession of faith, or he Second Helvetic Confession could be used to teach the faith.

Either way if you are a protestant church you need to instruct the youth in the faith and it cannot be done without paying close attention to the historic creeds of the Reformation. As I said no church that ignores this can call itself protestant. Anybody that disagrees is welcome to post, I am prepared to defend what I have just affirmed.
