On this edition of the program Michael Horton talks with Adam Christing, writer and director of a new documentary about a relatively unknown aspect of the life of Joseph Smith, namely his candidacy for President of the United States. Mike and Adam also discuss the history and theology of Mormonism, as well as some of the political questions that have arisen relating to Mitt Romney's run for office. Are Mormons Christians? Is it okay to vote for a Mormon President? These issues and more will be discussed on this edition of White Horse Inn.

  • In light of what is religion, one has to answer if a Christian...Religion is Man's way to Jesus Christ! Christianity it GOD'S WAY TO REDEEM THE LOSS SOULS IN SIN SINCE ADAM! It wouldn't matter if JESUS CHRIST had not gone to a cruel Roman cross to die for the sins of every person and give forgiveness to the sinner by way of the cross!God's Word (Bible) tells us that 'THERE IN NO OTHER WAY TO HEAVEN BUT BY THE CROSS AND SHED BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, OUR LIVING SAVIOR WHO IS COMING AGAIN TO GATHER UP THE BELIEVERS IN HIM AND IT'S CALLED THE 'RAPTURE!" Today our God is still inviting sinners to come to repentence in Him who was blameless, spotless LAMB OF GOD. GOD IS MERCIFULL NOT TOLERANT! 'BEHOLD. TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION! DO YOU KNOW HIM?

    Magaret,

I think I get your point. However there is no other way to the father, but through Jesus. Jesus died on the cross for his people and there is no other way but by Him. And yes it would have matter if Christ had not gone to "a cruel Roman cross to die". That was the only way to satisfy the demands of God's justice. God's word(Bible) tells us that. Not that it wouldn't of mattered.

Thank you for this enlightening and very responsibly conducted interview. I've ordered the DVD. I never knew a thing about Smith running for president or his assassination – fascinating!

I'm a fan of Mormon humans I've known and my husband and I are enthusiastic supporters of Mitt Romney for president. Our beliefs are orthodox Christian, via Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

The main reason I want to know more about Mormon theology is for purposes of witnessing and prayer. Before Mr. Christing mentioned it, I was thinking: hmmm, this might not be all that different from an approach to American Evangelicals.

Again, many thanks for the excellent info, especially the civil, non-contentious tone.
