Yesterday we pointed out that Lutherans are cool--at least in Cool, California! Today we received evidence from our Orange County correspondent that Presbyterians are hungry--at least in North Carolina.

What's the phrase under the Reverend's name?

'Ceud mìle fàilte' is a common Scots Gaelic greeting, literally meaning 'a hundred thousand welcomes'.

I'm more put off by the "revrend's" name than the funny church name.

I snapped this gem. Apparently, this particular area of North Carolina had a large Scottish immigrant population and as evidenced by the sign this church goes back to the 1700's. I also happened on "The Talking Church" in Pinehurst, NC. which broadcasts sermons on a local radio frequency. Interesting, though, was the fact that to get good reception you had to be parked right in front of the church door that you could access from a circular driveway. I guess that's one way to get people "to" the door.

And.....you have to wonder if Adam's rib has been a subject of any sermon. I know you were thinking that...

  • Well, North Carolina does have the world's best BBQ. The Presbyterians, on the other hand, leave much to be desired. :-)

Hopefully, "Sandy" is short for Alexander . . .

"Sandy" probably has/had reddish hair, not unknown among the Scots and the Irish.
