WHI-1042 | Word & Sacrament
Many Christians today are preoccupied with the extraordinary over the ordinary. They see God at work only in the big events such as revival meetings or stadium sized worship events. But in the second chapter of Acts we find the apostles engaged in the proclamation of the Word and the administration of the Sacraments. Is this merely “church-ianity” or is this the apostolic fulfillment of the Great Commission? That’s our topic for this week as the hosts continue their study of Acts chapter 2.

Hey Guys!
I listen regularly to the podcast. I was particularly interested in the most recent “Word & Sacrament” discussion. When I heard you say, “Scripture teaches that baptism is for the remission of sins”, I had to rewind the podcast to make sure I had heard you correctly. Full disclosure: I am one of those Church of Christ guys you mentioned (actually Independent Christian Church – instrumental; man do I hate labels!). We have been teaching this for years (although sometimes our views have been misrepresented – we do not believe in water regeneration; the blood of Christ cleanses sin). Salvation is by grace, through faith, at baptism, for good works.
When somebody like me says that there is no biblical example of the sinner’s prayer, and that evangelicals have made it a sacrament; most folks write me off. But when you guys say it, perhaps people will give it more credibility and re-examine their beliefs.
Anyway, thanks for a great podcast!
