WHI-1036 | Abrahamic Faiths
What is the relationship between Christianity and other “Abrahamic faith traditions”? Is Abraham really the father of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity, and if so, does this mean that each of these religions are legitimate ways to God? What are we to do with Abraham himself and with the other Old Testament patriarchs? Since they didn’t have explicit faith in Christ, how can Jesus be the only way of salvation? The MP3 that is linked from the RSS feed is not available. I can listen to it here on the site, but I am not able to download it for use on my non-iTunes media device. (I hope I’m not the only one listening outside of the iDevice crowd.)

Abraham was indeed the father of Isaac and Ishmael – from whom Judiasm, Christianity and Islam began – BUT it was through Isaac the promise came – Ishmael was not the son of promise -Ishamel was the son of presumption. Through Isaac and his son Jacob [not Essau] was born our Messiah Jesus the Christ.

This program misrepresents the nature and purpose of interfaith dialogue. Reconciliation does not mean abandonment of Christian conviction and the right to witness to the truth of the Gospel. It is, however, a means of creating mutual understand between religions, reciprocal respect, and the lessening of misrepresentation – a significant contributor to religious prejudice, and even violence.
